L’ATELIER WORKSHOP
Surf film photographer for over 10 years, I'm inviting you to share my experience during a 4-day community retreat in a Basque house perched above the iconic Parlementia surf spot.
Over the weekend, we’ll dive into the theory, explore specific gear and camera settings, and cover essential safety measures when shooting surfers in the water.
Then comes the best part — small-group water sessions for hands-on practice throughout the four days.
Several practical workshops are planned, including sessions with local surfer models, relaxing yoga moments, fun activities, all in a springtime setting ideal for mellow waves and sunshine.
From theory to in-water practice, with or without accommodation, everything is designed to give you the tools and inspiration you need for your summer photo sessions!
Who is this workshop for?
You have experience with film or digital photography and want to take the plunge into surf and lifestyle photography on film.
You already shoot surf photography on film and are looking to level up.
You own a film camera and would like to try the Nikonos before investing in one.
You're like a fish in the water — and in the waves!
Topics covered in this workshop:
Camera settings specific to surf photography.
The importance of light and action speed.
Gear selection and maintenance.
Water safety and positioning.
Exploring different angles and perspectives.
Choosing wetsuits, fins, and leashes.
Types of shots: mostly above water, but also some underwater.

Nestled on the heights of Guéthary, this charming Basque house opens onto the ocean, offering a peaceful retreat with sweeping views of the Parlementia lineup.
Bathed in light and surrounded by nature, its spacious garden becomes our creative ground — a place to slow down, connect, and let inspiration flow.
Here, time stretches with the tides, and every moment invites exchange, learning, and shared passion.

During these four days, a talented chef will spoil us with delicious breakfasts and lunches, offering vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options to keep your taste buds happy. Snacks and fresh fruit will be available all throughout the workshop to keep you fueled.
In the evenings, you’ve got options: feel free to cook and enjoy a relaxed dinner at the Villa (with everything you need to whip something up) or head to the lawn in front where a seasonal pop-up restaurant will be serving up tasty meals. Plus, there’s a small shop and a few restaurants just a short walk away if you’re in the mood for a change of scenery.

To participate in the Underwater Film Workshop, you have two options:
WORKSHOP WITHOUT ACCOMMODATION - PRICE: 800 euros (Option 1)
You’ll have full access to all the workshop activities and meals (breakfast, lunch, snacks, etc.).
Accommodation and travel are at your own expense, but we highly recommend staying at the villa with the group to fully immerse yourself in the experience and the community!WORKSHOP WITH ACCOMMODATION - PRICE: 1100 to 1250 euros (Option 2)
You’ll have full access to all workshop activities and meals (breakfast, lunch, snacks, etc.), as well as comfortable accommodation at the villa. Below are the different room options we offer:

1 Ocean-view suite with bathroom – 1250 euros/person*
1 Single room with bathroom – 1200 euros/person*
1 Single room without bathroom – 1150 euros/person*
1 Shared room (max 2 people) – 1100 euros/person

Registration / Cancellation
After completing your online registration form, you will receive a confirmation email along with the bank details to make your deposit.
A deposit of 400€ is required to secure your spot. The remaining balance will be due on the first day of the workshop.
In case of cancellation on our part or if there are insufficient registrations, the deposit will be fully refunded.
In case of cancellation on your part, your deposit will be refunded as a credit voucher, valid for 18 months, for the next Workshop #2 edition in September.
Payment in two installments is available after the deposit is made, via bank transfer or PayPal.
